The Minister’s last press conference was held on April 27, 2017. It was about the berthing and stay of the Africa Mercy hospital ship in the Port of Douala as of August 2017.

For two months Issa Tchiroma Bakary the Minister of Communication (Mincom) has not made government communication. It is not for lack of facts that flood political, national and international news. This silence, which seems strange to some people, has given rise to many reactions on the web, based on the fact that the member of the Government is illustrated by recurrent media releases. Some have therefore tried to explain this silence of Mincom evoking a medical evacuation in Europe that he would have benefited. This information was denied on 13 July 2017 in the margins of AndrĂ© Mama Fouda, the Minister of Public Health (Minsante)’s press conference on family planning. “We can not leave the country for a mission without being treated as a serious patient,” said the Mincom.

For the daily newspaper Le Jour of July 14, 2017, the Mincom spokesman of the Government would not have received information from his hierarchy since all this time. “The least that can be said is that for almost two months, we have not seen the Mincom intervene spontaneously on the various subjects of the hour,” notes the paper. It should be remembered that Issa Tchiroma’s last media outing dates back to 27 April 2017. He had spoken of the berthing and stay of the Africa Mercy hospital ship at the Port of Douala in August 2017.

Pascaline Pippa in service at the Ministry of Communication told the daily that her boss was ill before indicating that he is currently in shape. She added that “We no longer have any information. It is above all with the approval of the hierarchy that the Minister speaks. For example, he will be referred to a ministerial department to have the elements of language. He does not invent anything. What he says comes from the ministerial department concerned “.
