In Cameroon, the bishops ask for the truth about the suspected death of Bishop Jean-Marie Bala. On June 2, the body of the Bishop of Bafia, in the center region of the country, had been recovered from the Sanaga River more than 48 hours after his disappearance.
According to the public prosecutor, drowning would be the most likely cause of death, suggesting suicide. But a first autopsy had reported traces of blows on the body of the prelate.
The bishops evoke murder. In a statement signed on July 10, the Church of Cameroon officially asks that all the light be made.
Below in audio the reaction of Bishop Samuel Kleda, Archbishop of Douala and President of the Episcopal Conference of Cameroon gathered by Olivier Bonnel of Vatican Radio.
