On 27 June 2017, the Government of Cameroon officially approved the rehabilitation of the Yaounde Congress Hall, a 30-year-old building housing the most important events and other international meetings organized in the Cameroonian capital.

Work carried out over the last two years by the Chinese company Anhui Construction Energeering Group has cost about 10 billion CFA francs, it is officially learned. This funding was provided through a donation from the Chinese government to Cameroon.

The renovation of this building, it is said, consisted in its covering, the renewal of electrical equipment, plumbing, security, air conditioning and sound reinforcement, as well as the improvement of the drinking water supply system.
