On 4 July 2017, Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel), the incumbent operator and GTS-Infotel Cameroon SA, an SVA network operator, unveiled the network interconnection agreement signed on 9 May. According to Pierre-François Kamanou (photo), the president and CEO of GTS-Infotel Cameroon SA, “all administrations and companies using the Camtel Internet network will now have a unique Infotel number associated with our cloud platforms with all of their modern internal and external communications needs, enhanced customer experience and mobile marketing while reducing associated costs.

Infotel is a new virtual network of digital communication services between the application platforms of companies (identified by their Infotel number), and users connected via the Mobinawa application (identified by their mobile number). The Infotel network supports authenticated and secure conversational (voice/video/SMS) and transactional (SMS/MMS) communications between all its subscribers (legal entities and natural persons).

The collaboration between Camtel and GTS-Infotel, which marks the introduction of a complete range of value-added mobile communication solutions through the local Internet network, dedicated to companies and administrations, will contribute to the development of IP telephony, said the two partners in a joint statement.

Camtel’s fixed and CDMA subscribers will now be able to access the value-added voice/SMS services of the Infotel network companies by dialing the free or standard rate. Employees of the new virtual network will be able to call and send SMS messages to subscribers of all networks (Fixed, CDMA and GSM) from their connected mobile terminal at a single, cheaper rate.
