He replaces Joseph Nouma as General of Brigade and appointed to the head of the 11th Motorized Infantry Brigade in Ebolowa, Southern Region.

This information is relayed by the daily newspaper Le Jour, July 5, 2017. Colonel Dourai was chosen by “Bastos” to lead Operation Alpha, the most prestigious of the operations put in place by Cameroon for the fight against the terrorist sect Boko Haram. The word “Bastos” is commonly used by the military to talk about the headquarters of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (Bir) located in the neighborhood of the same name. It must therefore be known that Colonel Dourai until now was the Second Commandant of Operation Alpha. He replaces today the name Joseph Nouma promoted General de brigade and also appointed to the head of the 11th Motorized infantry Brigade in Ebolowa in the Southern Region.

To come back to Colonel Dourai, he is 50 year old. On 28 August 1989 he joined the army. He was trained at the Royal Military Academy of Meknes in Morocco. The newspaper says that “he is one of the pioneers of the Bir“. It should be added that Colonel Dourai was part of the first contingent of officers who created the light intervention battalion in 1999. The battalion will be transformed into a Rapid Intervention Battalion in 2008.

To speak of Operation Alpha, it must be remembered that it was created in 2014. It has a membership of nearly 2,500 elite soldiers. It has equipment at the forefront of the latest military equipment. And in the fight against Boko Haram, its results have earned the Cameroonian army, “an international prestige and a world reputation“.
