The scene took place in Cameroon. A homeowner shocked his tenants by confiscating chicken soup from one of them, for unpaid rent.
Came last weekend to claim the rent, the house owner confiscated the chicken soup that the tenant’s wife was cooking. The latter owes him six months’ rent.
According to Cameroon-Concord, the incident took place in the Bassa district of Douala. The efforts of other tenants to persuade the owner to reverse his decision remained unsuccessful.
On the motivations that prompted him to take such an extreme measure, the owner said:
This man has money to prepare chicken, but has no money to pay his rent. He has not paid his rent in the last six months.
Every time I ask him to leave my house, he presents me with some articles of the Penal Code, stating that I may have serious problems with the police if I chase him within two months without notice.
The occupants of neighboring houses who watched this rather hilarious scene say that their landlord has been very lenient with their neighbor since he started refusing to pay his rent but never reached that level.
Although they admitted that the owner was difficult to maneuver on rent issues, particularly with regard to settlement delays, they did not understand why he had remained silent until today.
“It is only today that we learn that the tenant has cited articles of the Penal Code to scare the owner,” said one of the tenants
