Cameroon – Energy: F CFA 2 billion drop in the right of transit of Chadian oil to Cameroon territory in the first quarter of 2017

Written by Deckson N.

In the first quarter of 2017, the right of transit of Chadian oil to Cameroonian territory through the Chad-Cameroon pipeline peaked at just over CFAF 9 billion, a decrease of CFAF 1.8 billion as compared to CFAF 10.8 billion raised over the same period in the previous year.

This drop in the right of transit is due to the slowdown in oil production in Chad, mainly due to the price of raw materials that have become less attractive on the international market for several months.

Indeed, underlines the National Hydrocarbon Corporation (SNH), the secular arm of the Cameroonian state in oil production, in the first quarter of 2017, only 11.2 million barrels of Chadian crude oil passed through Cameroon, More than 14 million barrels in the first quarter of 2016.
