Cameroon – 20 May 2017 Reception: Mobile phones prohibited at the Unity Palace in Yaounde at the reception offered by the presidential couple

Written by Deckson N.

The measure is contained in a communiqué signed by the Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary, made public on Friday, May 19, 2017 on the antennas of the national radio (Crtv).

Mobile phones will not be admitted to the Unity Palace this Saturday, May 20, 2017. All persons invited to the reception offered by the president of the republic and his wife are summoned to get rid of their phones before accessing the place of reception. According to the press release, the measure aims at avoiding bottlenecks in control operations and in making access more fluid.

It means that for this other moment of rejoicing at the presidential palace in Etoudi in the capital Yaounde, the atmosphere of selfies will not be at the rendezvous. The communiqué signed by the minister of communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary and made public on the antennas of the national radio during the spoken news of 5PM, probably broke the dream of many. Especially those who expected for example to live the same euphoria of selfies as the indomitable lions of Cameroon in January 2017, and the indomitable lionesses a few months ago.
