Cameroon – 20 May 2017: Minister of Youths, Mounouna Foutsou, inaugurates the “Village of Unity and National Integration”

The ceremony took place at the esplanade of the National Museum of Yaounde on May 16, 2017, in the presence of several members of the Government.

The esplanade of the National Museum was full this Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Students, exhibitors, traditional and modern artists and other visitors came to attend the official inauguration ceremony of the Village of Unity and National integration, by the Minister of Youths (MINJEC), Mounouna Foutsou. The theme chosen for this edition is “The foundations of the unitary State and the harmonious living together in Cameroon“. This space was set up as a prelude to the celebration of the 45th National Day.

This activity is organized jointly by MINJEC and the Ministry of Arts and Culture (MINAC), with the collaboration of other sectoral ministerial departments in a context marked by the further intensification of the National Campaign for Civic Education And of the National Integration to fight against the incivism; Lack of interest in Cameroonian cultural diversity, which is a factor of peace, stability, development and consolidation of harmonious living together; The persistence of a climate of insecurity at the borders of the Far North; Social upheavals in the northwest and southwest regions, among others.

The main objective of the village is to celebrate the harmonious living together, that is, our diversity lived in unity, peace, harmony, stability and social and economic progress. It is therefore a unique gathering space that will allow to develop a maximum of awareness-raising activities, brewing, exchanges, information for all levels of society, “says Mounouna Foutsou in her speech of circumstance.

Among other activities on the program, an exhibition fair, socio-educational exchanges, including screenings of films and documentaries on the history of Cameroon; Educational talks, round tables, lectures, debates on the history of Cameroon and the preservation of harmonious living together; Creativity competition on the promotion of harmonious living together; Games and various attractions and guided tours to the National Museum. A cultural gala coupled with various artistic performances will close these activities on May 18th. see pics below!
