The burglars would have set their sights on the paperwork in the offices of the Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey and his private secretary.

According to sources well introduced to the Ministry of Finance (MINFI), Alamine Ousmane Mey reported a burglary in his ministerial department between Thursday 11 and Friday 12 May. According to the daily L’Epervier on Monday, 15 May 2017, the alleged burglars allegedly withdrew from the coffers several bundles of hundreds of millions of CFA francs, which they would have left in favor of several documents classified “top secrets” in the offices of MINFI and his private secretary.

The robbery in this ministry would have taken place without breaking-in, the paper said. An act that raises many questions. Indeed, some observers question whether the MINFI and his secretary share offices with third parties or whether it is a helping hand mounted through a henchman to whom one would have handed over the double keys to plan this operation, apparently ill-tailored. If this alleged burglary is proven, we should not look for the perpetrators in the populous quarters, since there is every reason to believe that they would be lined in the corridors of MINFI, underlines the newspaper.

This alleged burglary of documents, which is reported a few days before the celebration of the national day on 20 May and which puts MINFI at the center of several financial solicitations, might not have been committed by the needy, who would undoubtedly have taken the hundreds of million at their fingertips. But these are people who either want Alama Ousmane Mey or seek to protect him by playing the role of real bogus burglars to exonerate from any accusation and also helping him to erase the traces of potential economic crimes, The paper said.

It must be said that for some time, several government departments are the target of the thugs, who how thefts and fire some offices of public institutions.
