Cameroon – Doctors strike: See where the president of the doctors trade union was sent!

Written by Deckson N.

Doctors in Cameroon have been undergoing a trike action for time now to call on the attention of the government. This strike as we learned, is powered by the SYMEC, a trade union for physicians in Cameroon.

Since the government have not yet reacted to their demands, the SYMEC planned to launch another strike this Monday 15 May 2017. To counter the actions of the SYMEC, the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda, assigned the executive members of the SYMEC to very remote areas where they might not have enough power to act.

According to Boris Bertolt, who’s an investigative journalist, one of the doctors, namely Dr Bassong who is the president of the SYMEC was transferred from Bamenda, (where he was the only a neurologist and neurosurgeon in the whole NW region, and also a lecturer in the faculty of medicines in the University of Bamenda) to the Somalomo District Health Center, Eastern Region. According to the journalist, the picture below is the Health Center where the doctor has been sent to.

The question many people are asking is why should a government send a doctor like that to a health center like this?. If the picture is really the health center, then government might be really sick.

below is his post.
