Cameroon – Banking: Ecobank Cameroon Launches Digital Application to Send and Receive Money Across 33 African Countries

Ecobank Cameroon announces that it has launched the “Ecobank Mobile” application since February 2017, enabling customers to send and receive money instantly across 33 African countries (Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia …) in addition to Cameroon. The parent company, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, is itself established through its subsidiaries in 36 African countries.

According to the explanations of Longo Manasse, electronic account manager of the Pan-African bank, users can also open a free digital account. This unique account can be opened at any time instantly without having to provide a reference or document. “This is an important step in our ambition to digitize the country’s banking system. “Says Gwendoline Abunaw, Ecobank Cameroon’s deputy general manager. With this new application, the financial institution is pleased to be the first bank to launch a digital product in Cameroon that also allows users to make purchases, transactions or trade without having to use cash.

Ecobank Cameroon has performed well for at least 2 years. She managed to leave the 5th rank in the charts of the Cameroonian banks, to become the 4th bank of the country behind Afriland First Bank, Bicec, and Société Générale.
