Cameroon – Bafoussam: A monster erosion is likely to engulf part of the omnisports stadium in Bafoussam

Written by Deckson N.

A year ago, on April 30, 2016, Cameroon’s sport community gathered in Bafoussam for the ceremony of inauguration of the Omnisports stadium under the aegis of the African Confederation of Football (Caf). In front of a crowd of guests, Pierre Ismaël Bidoung Mkpatt, Minister of Sports and Physical Education (Minsep), reassured that work on the sports infrastructure would start as soon as possible.

But since then nothing has really happened. And the stadium is threatened to be caught up by erosion.

A water channel oriented a few tens of meters from the main gallery has already left an abyssal hole more than thirty meters deep. With the return of the rains, this monstrosity widens roughly and approaches dazzlingly towards the facilities of the stadium.

According to technicians, if nothing is done very fast, it is possible that the stadium is affected before the end of the great rainy season.
