The announcement was made by Wei Wenhua, the Chinese ambassador to Cameroon, who received the press on 28 April 2017 in Yaoundé.
The figures show that relations between Cameroon and China are doing well. La Nouvelle Expression (LNE) of 2 May reports that the volume of trade between Beijing and Yaoundé is 1.96 billion US dollars and “direct investment reached 35.06 million US dollars (over 21.431 billion FCFA)”.
The Chinese ambassador to Cameroon, Wei Wenhua, made the announcement last Friday during a press dinner in Yaoundé. This money was used to finance structuring projects.
“Examples are the Yaoundé-Douala, Kribi-Lolabe motorways, the Sanaga River drinking water project, the Bini Warak hydroelectric dam, the social housing project, the national broadband network and the national plan Telecommunications, “the paper said.
In addition, LNE said, “Mekin’s hydroelectric plant, which was completed in August, will produce electricity soon. Last February, the two parties signed the loan agreement for the works on the energy lines of the Memve’ele hydroelectric dam and dam works will be completed in June.”
The Middle Empire, now the world’s leading economic power, does not intend to stop at this level. In early April, “China and Cameroon signed loan agreements for Phase II of the Kribi deep-water port“, the newspaper said, not to mention the construction of the new headquarters building of the National Assembly, to be built thanks to a Chinese gift.
