Prime Minister Philemon Yang yesterday, on behalf of the Head of State, set up the president and other members of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism.

This was undoubtedly one of the most applauded moments of the installation ceremony of the President and members of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM) at the Yaounde Congress Hall yesterday by the Prime Minister, Head of government, Philemon Yang, personal representative of the head of state, according to the story of Cameroon Tribune.

The Prime Minister underlined that we are living a memorable day “in the history of building our nation”. For the Head of Government, the first team of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism opens new perspectives for the consolidation of our living together.

The Prime Minister then reminded Peter Mafany Musonge and the other members of the Commission’s missions contained in the presidential decree of 23 January 2017. He called on members to listen to Cameroonian society, according to the wish expressed by President Paul Biya.

According to him, this is an institution that unites beyond the differences of languages and cultures. “This institution will work to promote our cultural diversity and our two official languages“, with the aim of strengthening national unity and integration. Philemon Yang then recalled the essential values to promote: bilingualism, multiculturalism and living together.

According to Philemon Yang, the 15 personalities appointed to this commission share in patriotism and commitment to noble causes in Cameroonian society. A Commission, which also includes representatives from the ten regions of the country.

He reassured the president and other members of the availability of the Head of State to accompany them in their missions. All that remained was to declare the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism installed, so that it could work decisively.
