The Road Transport Directorate of the Ministry of transport, which carried out a descent on the ground on April 21, reminds the order of the promoters of the driving schools.

On 21 April, teams from the Transport Directorate of the Ministry of Transport made a descent on the ground, in particular with the driving schools. The objective being to raise awareness among the promoters of the latter, about the consequences of poor knowledge of the Highway Code. Indeed, 2000 people lost their lives in 2016 on the roads, the daily newspaper Le Messager of Wednesday 26 April 2017 tells us.

During their visits, the management teams of the transport department were able to observe that several driving schools operate outside the regulations in force. And for good reason, many of them do not have teaching materials, city maps, projector and cramped spaces … “Without these elements, no training can be dispensed efficiently for the learner. It is very dangerous for the learner who can not master driving after training. And we know all the consequences in terms of accident and other, “says a screening officer. On the other hand, the promoters of these learning centers, consider that they fulfill all conditions to be able to carry out their activities, says the newspaper.

It should be said that, in addition to the deaths due to accidents last year, 4,000 injuries due to traffic accidents were recorded. According to Divine Mbamone Nkendong, director of road transport, “many cases of accidents in Cameroon are due to bad behavior“. The main cause was human failure, he said. And then to add that “the candidates for the driving license are not well trained. The texts are clear. It takes at least two months of training for learners. ” In the opinion of the latter, the promoters of driving schools should operate according to the regulations in force. This could also contribute, in some measure, to the reduction in the number of road fatalities recorded each year.
