Cimaf Cameroon wants to compete with Dangote by tripling its cement production to 1.5 million tons

Ciments d’Afrique (CIMAF) Cameroon, a subsidiary of Moroccan Addoha, has just announced the announcement that it will triple its current production capacity from 500,000 tonnes to 1.5 million tonnes of cement per year, at Horizon 2018.

This decision, says the Cameroonian subsidiary, intervenes in a context of growth of the Cameroon cement market and a strong demand from users of Cimaf products. “At the end of this extension, Cimaf Cameroon intends to consolidate its position as a major player in the local and sub-regional market,” the announcement reads. The company claims that the spin-offs of this extension on the Cameroonian economy will be significant.

For in the project phase, the cement works will involve several Cameroonian companies who will provide services in the framework of the construction of the new production line, thus generating about a hundred jobs. In the operation phase, the company will continue to create new jobs for Cameroonian youth, transporters and distributors will be asked to transport the products to all regions of Cameroon and to certain countries of the subregion.

It should be noted that the cement delivery segment is dominated by Nigerian Dangote. And it is largely thanks to this service that in less than two years it has delighted Lafarge-Holcim leadership in the Cameroonian market. Moreover, if CIMAF achieves its target of 1.5 million tons per year, it will be at the same level of production as Dangote.

CIMAF settled in Cameroon in 2012 with an investment of nearly 30 million euros. The plant, located in the industrial zone of Douala-Bonabéri, which began production in February 2014, markets three products; The Cpj35, the Cemi 32.5R and the Cemi 42.5R.
