The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has formally asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the match between the Indomitable Lions and the Atlas Lions in the match for the 2019 AFCON qualifiers. It was scheduled for the week of 5 to 11 June 2017.
According to the Moroccan site le360.ma, which cites the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia in its weekend sports pages (1 and 2 April), Cameroonians consider that the match against Morocco comes at the same time as the Confederations Cup in Which will have to participate the champions of Africa.
“The Cameroon side have asked for the postponement of the game to prepare for the confederations Cup, which has been drafted in group B alongside Chile, Australia and Germany, wrote the newspaper.
In the event that Morocco ‘s match against Cameroon is postponed, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) would try to schedule a friendly match to fill the gap and prepare as best as possible for the rest of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, said Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
As part of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers, Cameroon are in Group B with Morocco, Malawi and the winner of the match Comoros / Mauritius.
