Despite calls by Four out of Six members of All Anglophone Teachers Trade Unions for school resumption this Monday February 6, 2017 classes have not resumed.
The people of North West and South West regions responded to this school with one of the most embarrassing Ghost Towns observed so far.
The call for suspension of the Strike action by members of Presbyterian Education Authority Teachers Trade Union, PEATTU, Baptist Teachers Trade Union of Cameroon, BATTUC, Teachers Association of Cameroon, TAC and Cameroon Teachers Trade Union, CATTU have not been respected by the people of the two English speaking regions who have poured out dissatisfaction on the recent call describing it as a bought over call.
According to one of the signatories for school resumption, President of Presbyterian Education Authority Teachers Trade Union, PEATTU, Stephen AFU, the continuation of the strike is no more their responsibility; he is quoted to have said they have done their part by suspending it and that if it continues, it should now be in the hands of the population.
This Ghost Town respected following calls by foreign Leaders of the outlawed Consortium changed the program of North West Regional Governor, Adolphe LELE L’Afrique who was forced to visit Community Radio Stations in Ndonga Mantung and Bui Division to ask them to read several times the release from trade Unionists. The governor who was supposed to visit schools to see the level of effectiveness could not continue his planned visit because all schools remained closed.
Ghost towns were also respected in major towns like Kumba, Buea, Limbe, Tiko, Mutengene and other major areas.
