The fire broke out on 31 January 2017. The waiting room in the office of the Minister for the Presidency in charge of Public Procurement was devastated by the flames.
On January 31 last month there was more fear than harm at the Ministry of Public Procurement in Yaounde in the Central Region, say our sources. The waiting room of the Cabinet of Abba Sadou, Minister of State for the Presidency in charge of Public Procurement (MINMAP), was ravaged by flames. According to the Cameroon Tribune, the national daily newspaper published on 1 February 2017 as damage to this fire, there are blackened walls, burnt sofas, ash curtains. Fritz Gerald Nasako, Secretary General (SG) of the ministerial department said that he was with the minister’s collaborators in full meeting when his bodyguard came to announce the news to them. “We were all panicked. That’s how we came out in disaster, “he says.
“We noticed smoke coming out of this room. So I went to open the door and realized there was fire. In the panic, I went out leaving my phone, “adds one of the secretaries of the Ministry. The staff therefore called on the fire brigade. When they arrived at the scene, the fire had invaded the waiting room. However, it remained contained inside. The firefighters were able to neutralize the fire and limit the damage. All the employees of this building, which is located not far from the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) gathered in the parking lot with the Minister, said our sources.
For the moment it is impossible to determine the causes of the fire. We will have to wait for the results of the investigation that is open.
