Cameroon – Anglophone Problem: Government bans activities of SCNC and Consortium

René Emmanuel Sadi, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization (MINATD), signed and published a decree on Tuesday 17 January.

In a Ministerial Order issued on 17 January 2017 and signed by René Emmanuel Sadi, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, the activities of the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium (CACSC) and the Southern Cameroons National Council (SCNC) Are and remain prohibited throughout the national territory.

Article 1 The following are null and void as their object and activity contrary to the Constitution and of such a nature as to prejudice the security of the State, the integrity of the territory, national unity and national integration, The Southern Cameroons National Council (SCNC) and the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium (CACSC).

Article 2: All activities, meetings and demonstrations initiated and supported by Southern Cameroons National Council (SCNC) and the Anglophone Civil Society Consortium (CACSC), any related group or prosecutor are prohibited throughout the national territory A similar purpose, or by any other person claiming it “.

Article 3: Offenders to the prohibition referred to in article 2 above shall be liable to prosecution in accordance with the law in force“.

Article 4: The governors of the regions, SDOs and DOs shall be responsible for the application of this decree, which shall be registered and published under the urgency procedure and inserted in the official gazette in French and English“.
