Cameroon – Mines: The Ministry of Mines will devote 53% of its budget in 2017 to improve mining and geological information

The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (Minmidt) indicates in its 2017 roadmap that with a budget of 11,805 billion CFA francs, it intends to give priority to the mineral and geological resources of Cameroon. An envelope of 6.2 billion FCFA will be allocated to this activity. That is 52.9% of the total budget of this administration.

Emphasis will be placed on improving geological and mining information through the intensification of geophysical surveys and the further modernization of mining. The third international conference on the mining industry in Cameroon will be organized in order to promote the mining potential of our country, “says the Mindmidt. He added that a greater presence of the administration in the field would be effective with the intensification of the descents in the mining sites in order to ensure the respect of the restoration of the sites and the exploitation Harmony of subsoil resources.

The other flagship activity is the diversification and improvement of the competitiveness of industrial sectors. It will mobilize an envelope of CFAF 1.751 billion which will be used, among other things, to implement the industrialization master plan and the functioning of the national inspections committee. A final component concerns the valorisation of inventions, technological innovations and assets of industrial property. Its envelope is 639, 299 million FCFA.
