Cameroon – Football: Aurélien Chedjou sacked by his club after a red card

Written by Deckson N.

The defender of the indomitable Lions and Galatasaray agreed to a termination after a very compromising defeat (2-3) conceded on Wednesday in the Turkey Cup against Tuzlaspor.

It is with the status of player without club that the central defender of Cameroon Aurélien Chedjou will meet his teammates of the selection for the training session for the next African Cup of Nations Gabon 2017. After a humiliating defeat of Galatasaray on Wednesday in the cup of Turkey in front of Tuzlaspor (2-3), the leaders of the Istanbul club decided to separate from the former Lille player.

Yet scorer in this game, Chedjou then tarnished his performance with a direct red card scooped in the 56th minute, which necessarily impacted on the final result. The former resident of the Kadji Sports Academy was inflicted by his club a fine of 250 thousand euros (about 162 million 500 thousand CFA francs) because of this numerical inferiority which he caused early enough in the game.

Chedjou would have refused to comply with this sanction, provoking the ire of his leaders who, after an ultimatum decided to terminate his contract. The lease of the Cameroonian player who had lost his place since the 9th day of the championship ran until June 2017. He was thanked along with two other key players of the club. Namely: Sigthorsson Kolbeinn, and Hamit Altıntop.

Aurélien Chedjou has finally spent three and a half years in this club, which still allowed him to add four precious titles to his record (a championship in 2015, two cups in 2014 and 2016, a supercup in 2013). Several tracks are now available to the 31-year-old footballer. Recently, he was announced with insistence at the Olympique de Marseille. A hypothesis reinforced by the arrival of Rudi Garcia, his former coach in Lille.
