The residence of the chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), Ni John Fru Ndi was attacked by a group of police men, firing tear gas and life bullets into the compound and a nearby off licence.
Nobody was injured in the attacked that was carried out by some police men that are resident around the area, some of the local residents said.
The attacked prompted an immediate reaction from the chairman of the SDF who stormed the GMI police Station and at the same time called the governor of the region, Adolph Lele L’Afrique. The Governor, accompanied by the SDO for Mezam, the Regional Delegate for National Security and the Commissioner of GMI N06 Bamenda met with the Chairman at his residence. The meeting held behind closed doors.
Bar. Ben Suhfor, member and legal counsel of the SDF issued an official statement in which he condemned the acts of the police and blamed the regime for failing to heed to advice and dialogue. He said the chairman presented to the Governor tear gas cannister and bullets shell picked in his compound after the attack. (Watch video below)
The chairman also helped released a motorbike rider and his bike from the police, meanwhile a number of injuries from gun shots wounds have been reported in the hospital though no death has been confirmed as yet.
