A violent fight opposed the suspected members of Boko Haram and the Cameroon Defense and Security Forces in the night of yesterday Monday to Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in Darak, a commune of the Logone-et-Chari division, in the Region Of the Far North.
If for the moment none of our sources is in a position to relate this umpteenth clash between the army and the insurgents, it has been established however that six of the valiant Cameroonian soldiers have fallen. They are “Captain Tsengue Marcel and soldiers Bewesse Ndzana, Zoua Bessala Serge, Foung Arthur, Abayatini Alawo“. According to a source at the Ministry of Defense, the captain killed is the head of the detachment of the military post of Darak. Since this attack, the army rakes the area in search of the assailants, many of whom have taken refuge in some parts of Darak.
Guibai Gatama who gives us these names also says that Saidou Mohamed, the head of the Darak Vigilante Committee, also passed from life to death. This brings the balance to seven deaths.
This offensive by jihadists from neighboring Nigeria also caused injured, including soldier Michale Fosso Fossi. The defense forces managed to kill several assailants. The official record as well as the reaction of the Government are much awaited. It was a long time ago that the Cameroonian army had not lost so many men in a direct confrontation with Boko Haram.
