Cameroon – Ritual Crimes: A headless dead body found in Dschang (West)

Written by Deckson N.

The macabre discovery was made in the morning of Sunday November 13th in the Lifock neighborhood which houses one of the bus stations of Dschang.

According to the newspaper Le Jour which reports this information in its edition of November 17, 2016, the attention of the local residents was retained by foul odors that exhaled from a bag that was thrown among the trash. “It was by stripping it that we discovered this body wearing a t-shirt, in a state of advanced putrefaction, which in addition was amputated from the head,” says a local.

This body would be the one of the named Aimée Marinette Donfack, 23 year old. She had left the family home not far from the place of discovery for a week, supposedly to go to her elder sister’s house, we learn. “We had lost her tracks and the search for her had been futile,” the paper said.

According to her family, she was not in full possession of her mental faculties. After formalities, the Prosecutor ordered her burial. Sufficient, according to Le Jour, to awaken the specter of the “ritual crimes” that had shaken the town between 2014 and 2015. Assassinated persons had been found with vital organs swept away; of which presumed sponsors were arrested. Some were freed, others condemned.
