The Indomitable Lionesses lost their last friendly match before the AFCON.
A raging defeat! Cameroon lost a friendly on Sunday against Tanzania. This return friendly match, was the last of the Indomitable Lionesses before the AFCON 2016 (November 19 – December 3). On the first leg on November 10, 2016, Christine Manie and her teammates had dominated the Twiga Stars fairly easily (2-0).
The return match was not as easy as the fans of the Lionesses, who had come in large numbers at the omnisports stadium in Yaounde, hoped for a positive. Things had started well for the Cameroonians. Very incisive, they were the first to score. They opened the score shortly after 30 minutes of play.
But the vice champions of Africa were caught up by defensive errors. In the minutes after the opening of the score, the Tanzanians equalize. Very aggressive in attack, Avilia Salano played the Cameroon defense and deceived Annette Ngo Ndom. This goal destabilized the Cameroonians who took a second goal before halftime. The Cameroon defense still guilty, allowed Avilia Salano to double the stake.
The second period was an avalanche of opportunities missed by the Cameroonians. Gabriel Aboudi entered into play, repeatedly fail to make a difference. Same for Ngono Mani, Nchout Njoya and Agnès Nkada. Cameroon finally bowed. The only defeat in international matches preparation.
A defeat which at least revealed the deficiencies, especially defensive of the Lionesses to a week of the kick-off of the AFCON.
