Cameroon – Army: Ministry of Defense is recruiting 1800 elite BIR commandos!

In a statement issued on Saturday, 1 October 2016 around 8:30 PM on the National Station of CRTV, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense, announced the recruitment of 1,800 elite commandos for the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR).

This special recruitment will be held from January 7 to February 16, 2017 in the ten regions of the country. Candidates must have at least the Certificat d’Etudes Primaires or First School Leaving Certificate, be aged between 18 and 23 year – old, single and childless. In addition, they must have at least a height of 1,66m.

  • I am Ali GODWILL KENGONG I have always dream of being a soldier so as to fight for my country. I am 23 years 4 months and now it shows I can’t join the military. We are 8 of us willing and happy to join the BIR but due to the age group we are not able. Please I pleads that it should be raised to 25 years so able men can go in for. If care is not taken, the requested number needed will not be available. As statistics are showing, Buea, Bamenda, and Limbe are not that submitting due to the age limit. I pray and pleads that the ministry of defense should help look into this… Thanks
