The Federation Internationale de Football Association announced on the morning of Thursday, September 15, 2016, its traditional monthly ranking.

Argentina has the best team in the world. She has not moved from the top of the world, as Belgium’s the second. On the podium, only Columbia, now fourth, gave the third place to Germany who won a rank.

In Africa, the Ivory Coast returned to power. The Elephants won two places (34) and become the first African team at the expense of Algeria, who lost three places. The fall is more resounding for Cameroon who not only lost 5 places (59th), but is out of the Top 10 African. And yet, the Indomitable Lions, the national team of Cameroon, had two victories harvested less than ten days at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium respectively against Gambia (2-0, qualifiers for the AFCON Gabon 2017) and against the Gabon (2-1, friendly). Obviously, the impact of these two wins was not effective in the ranking.

Apart from Algeria, which is the next opponent of Cameroon in the last round of qualifiers for the World Cup Russia 2018, Nigeria and Zambia, two other opponents of the Indomitable Lions in this competition have experienced different fates. Nigeria won 3 seats (64th) and Zambia has dropped one rank (92nd).

TOP 10 African ranking

1) Ivory Coast (2)
2) Algeria (-3)
3) Senegal (2)
4) Tunisia (3)
5th) Ghana (-8)
6) DR Congo (+5)
7) Egypt (-10)
8) Congo (+9)
9) Mali (+4)
10) Morocco (-5)
