Shots were heard around noon this Saturday, September 10, 2016 in the Maroua Central Prison.
One source of this prison, an inmate tried to escape. Unable to catch him, he was shot by a prison guard. Our source was not yet in possession of the identity of the prisoner killed when he gave the information. However, he indicated that the detainee was part of suspected Boko Haram members placed under arrest for almost two years.
At war against the Islamic sect from Nigeria since 2013, the Cameroonian authorities and the defense and security forces have claimed more than a thousand members of Boko Haram prisoners.
