Thanks to the former indomitable lion, gold medalist at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, the Spanish beer brand Mahou and FECAFOOT are now linked for four years. A contract that would allow the federation to reap significant financial bonanza.
Saturday, August 20, 2016, Daniel Ngom Kome, former Cameroonian footballer gathered several football fans in a big nightclub in the city of Douala to live with them the men’s football final of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, between Brazil and Germany (5-4 after penalties). The former striker of the Indomitable Lions wanted to share with the audience his memories of Sydney 2000, when he won the Olympic medal with Cameroon. “It is a pleasure to bring my people together today and to share these moments with them,” said one who is at the end of his career and has converted into entrepreneurship.
This opportunity allowed Daniel Ngom Kome to reconsider the contract between the Cameroon Football Federation and the Mahou beer brand, distributed in Cameroon by the company EM Future Sarl of which he is responsible. This is a four-year partnership that allows this brand of beer to stick it’s image not only in the activities of all categories of the Indomitable Lions (A, A ‘, Hopes, Junior, Cadet, Lionesses …) but also support the regional championship of second division and inter-poles.
“We want to accompany football today because the Mahou beer is a beer that is 90% in football. They support the Spanish Liga, Real Madrid, Atletico and many other championship teams … I think this is the nursery of football that needs help now and really be able to give all that we missed in the past. Today we want to give back to Cameroonians passion they had for football, “said the old Majorcan.
He however declined to comment on the amount of the contract with the FECAFOOT, saying it is the federation’s responsibility to submit to such an exercise. But according to sources close to the dossier, Future EM Sarl which is the Mahou exclusive distributor in Central Africa, would have broken the bank. Ngom Kome hopes this agreement will bring results to the lions, which according to him, is in a rebuilding phase.
