Qualified for the 1/8th finals, Dieudonné Wilfried Seyi reiterates to want to offer Cameroon a third gold medal at the Olympics.

Boxer Wilfried Seyi (-75kg) offered to Cameroon on August 9, his first victory in the 31st of the modern Olympic Games. The young pugilist of 18-year old dominated the Colombian Jorge Vivas Palacios, aged 10 years more than him.

A great moment in his career that he did not fail to enjoy. “I am very moved because I eagerly prepared for this fight, I studied the battle rhythm of my opponent. It is true that at first I had difficulty because he was physically present and I had to improvise and anticipate to win this fight, “said Seyi on Radio France Internationale (RFI).

The Cameroon’s flag bearer knew his victory was expected by the whole cpountry. “This win is for me and the entire Cameroonian nation in great joy, since I am the flag bearer and I better win to motivate my colleagues,” he said.

Compatriots of Seyi hailed his performance, that’s if we stick to the numerous reactions on social networks. But it is out of question for the gold medalist of the 2015 African Games to stop this great journey. “I intend to win all my fights in succession. Because I came here to win all my fights and reach the final, “commented the boxer as a sign of warning to his opponents.

Next on the list is the Egyptian Hussein Bakr Abdin Hossan who won in the 1/16th final the Mauritian Merven Clair. The fight will take place on 12 August 2016. Wilfried Seyi could then qualify for the quarter-finals and one step closer to his primary objective which is to offer a third gold medal for his country after the Olympics in 2000 from football and Francois Mbango in 2004 and 2008.
