Cameroon – Amadou Vamoulke: Former CRTV General Manager sent to jail.

The former General Manager(GM) of the CRTV is prosecuted for embezzling public money amounting to 2.8 billion FCFA.

The former GM of the Cameroon Radio television (CRTV) was arrested Friday morning and remanded to the Kondengui Central Prison in Yaounde. On 1 July 2016, the Special Criminal Court (SCC) had issued a requisition that prevented Amadou Vamoulké freshly sacked from his post, to go out of Cameroon.

Amadou Vamoulké requested against a second opinion about the case,of which the SCC had granted. “To do this, three experts had been appointed to the investigation requested by the former head of the state television channel.” Amadou Vamoulké has always said that the 2.8 billion FCFA quarreled represent the gap between the amount shown on the accounting documents he signed when taking service, and what he actually found in the coffers of the structure when Pr. Gervais Mendo Ze left the reins of CRTV.

The regular presence of Amadou Vamoulké at the SCC began in late 2014. “He was then a witness in the prosecution case against Gervais Mendo Ze, former General Manager of CRTV from 1988 to 2005”. On November 12, 2014, Gervais Mendo Ze was placed in custody for acts of alleged diversion of public funds.
