The head of this village in the Vina division and his wife and son were released by the elements of the BIR.
Alhaji Bakari, his wife and son are now free. Kidnapped on May 26, 2016 at Mbella located in Vina, Adamawa Region, they were released ten days later, thanks to the action of the Rapid Intervention Battalion elements (BIR). The elements of the BIR, who worked with the family of the hostages have circumscribed the perimeter where they were, says L’Oeil du Sahel of 16 June 2016.
“Silenced, the hostages suffered martyrdom, until a power problem arose. The hostages, very old, had no strength to move. The leader of the kidnappers, who needed to refuel, dispatched three of his lieutenants to make purchases. Once gone, they could not return to the headquarters, because they were identified by the BIR in the forest. With the phone, they communicated the information to the rest of the band. A few days later, the helicopter of the BIR traveled the circumscribed perimeter, “says the newspaper.
Thus, the kidnappers fled, leaving behind the hostages. The ransom of FCFA 30 million they demanded for the release has not been paid. The newspaper reveals that “the investigations so far reveal that the kidnappers would come either from Garoua-Boulaï or the Central African Republic (CAR).”
