The ceremony will take place at the University of Yaounde 1.
The first movie theater “Canal Olympia” built by the Bolloré Group on the Yaounde 1 University campus will be inaugurated today. Vincent Bolloré, the French businessman, who is already in Cameroon will take part in the ceremony alongside Philemon Yang, Prime Minister (PM). The choice to build cinemas in Cameroon aims, according to Bolloré, to stow the Cameroonian youth culture.
“We are already on the campus of the University of Yaounde I. We’re looking for a room at the station. The President of CAMRAIL should find us space. We are leaders in the sector and the Chairman of Vivendi is there to support us, “he declared. The businessman had also suggested that the cinemas that are built in Cameroon are more modern than those built in France, Lebanon and England.
The Canal Olympia hall is a unique, modular concept based around a movie theater with 300 seats, and externally, an open stage that can accommodate thousands of people. Both screening halls, concerts and shows, Canal Olympia spaces are designed to be the scene of African culture in all its diversity.
The newspaper Le Jour edition of June 14, 2016 reported that during his visit on June 13 to the CAMRAIL station in Yaounde, Vincent Bolloré visited the railways. He “was made to explain the mechanism of travelers boarding and visited the different cars of train 191 to Ngaoundere in the Adamawa Region“.
“I came here over 2 years ago and we decided to redo the general work of the station and developed ideas and investment plans for the locomotives to go faster. I am pleased with what is done by the team of Hamadou Sali, ” he said at the end of the visit.
