Cameroon – Rio 2016: The Lionesses beaten by Argentina in their first qualifying match

Written by Deckson N.

The Lionesses were beaten yesterday 13 June by the Argentinians (64-75).

The miracle did not happen for the Cameroonian team. Renewed to over 75%, the vice-champion of Africa in October 2015 in Yaounde was beaten yesterday Monday for its entry in the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Nantes in France. A logical defeat (64-75) against Argentina.

Yet, the lionesses were the first to score. The naturalized American Brittany Starling, permitted the lead of Cameroon (7-4) in the first quarter. But she committed a second offense in the same period. The coach Stefano Bizzozi then replaced her and things change.

In their next outing, Cameroon (39th worldwide) will face Turkey (World 10th). Things are looking even harder for the Lionesses. If defeated, they will be eliminated from the tournament. The match is tomorrow June 15, 2016.
