Cameroon – A. Song: Football player back to FC Barcelona, but his mind is elsewhere!

Written by Deckson N.

Released by West Ham after the second year on loan, the Cameroonian international midfielder is back to his own club, FC Barcelona. But certainly not to spend the next season. Alex Song hopes indeed to find a new home during this transfer window.

Alexandre Song is officially no longer part of the workforce of West Ham United. On loan to the Hammers for a year, during the 2014-2015 season, the former Arsenal player seduced (28 games) the club with good performances. Due to that performance, English club took him again for another loan for another one year.

Probably because with the game he produced during the first year, the Hammers expected that Alexandre Song was going to do wonders. But they did not know that the former Indomitable Lion would be injured in a match during a holiday in Cameroon, and would then spend more time in the hospital than in the fields of the Premier League. The former Cameroonian international has played just 12 games this season, and that between November 2015 and March 2016. A loan that was almost useless for the Hammers who decided to release him recently.

Alexandre Song is back as a fully fledged player of FC Barcelona which he joined in 2012, but was never able to seduce the coach. Competition in the midfield was too harsh for the Cameroonian who was forced to remain in the shadow of titans like Iniesta (32-year old, 28 games, 1 goal in La Liga this season), Mascherano (32-year old, 32 games) or Busquets ( 27-year old, 35 games). The Cameroonian’s situation further complicated with the arrival of Ivan Rakitic (28-year old, 36 games, 7 goals in La Liga this season) and Aleix Vidal (26-year old, 9 games), former playmaker of FC Seville. Faced with competition, Alex Song hopes to find a new team during this transfer window. And clubs are not really lacking. According to the Turkish press, Galatasaray is interested in the player with 49 appearances with the Indomitable Lions. But no formal offer has been made.
