At least 1,500 chickens have died in several markets of the Western region. Samples taken and analyzed in Yaounde have detected bird flu in Bafoussam in the Mifi and Bayangam in the Kung-chi.
Accordingly, the boss of the region decided to proceed to the eradication/slaughtering of fowls, followed by incineration and prohibiting the marketing of chicken in the West.
Fearing the economic consequences of this announcement, the poultry farmers have demanded some indemnifications.
