France – S. Umtiti: Cameroonian who refused to play for Cameroon left out of the French squad, just like Roger Milla said

In December 2015, Tombi A Roko, FECAFOOT’s president went to France to ask the Cameroonian-born footballer, Samuel Umtiti to join the Indomitable Lions squad.

During this expedition, the footballer said “NO” to Tombi’s proposal. His decision did not leave many people indifferent, including Roger Milla, the football legend.

“Unfortunately, the president of the French Football Federation said he still has 4 years to have a place in this team. You see that in his position, there are so many players … It is now left for him to think. If he wants to play a World Cup in his career, he better come with Cameroon. If he does not, he will do like Itanje did. But if he comes after eight years, we will not take him anymore because there will be other players, “said Roger Milla.

It seems what Milla predicted has come to pass. Recently, Umtiti was left out of the French Squad for the Euro 2016. Many people though this talented defender would’ve been selected, but to the greatest surprise of all, he was not. The French coach, Didier D. said he was left out because they needed a right defender. But Umtiti is a left defender.
