Cameroon – Housing: The government social housing program carried out 90% in Yaoundé and 67% in Douala

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (Minhdu) reports that the construction of the first 1675 social housing units of the Government Program has already reached 90% in Yaounde and 67% in Douala, respectively.

The works of livability on the two sites are rendered at a realization rate of 70% in Yaounde and 50% in Douala. In addition, the first 120 homes completed in Olembé, in the capital, were placed at the disposal of the presidential security directorate (DSP). The construction of 100 dwellings in each of the chief towns of regions outside the political and economic metropolitan areas recorded a rate of advancement in Ebolowa of around 34% and for the other seven cities.

The Minhdu also includes the construction of 1,370 homes and their associated socio-cultural facilities, thanks to Chinese cooperation, in the cities of Yaounde, Douala and Limbe, and the ongoing construction of 50 housing units in each of the cities of Bafoussam, Bamenda and Sangmélima. Lastly, we note the actual start of the construction of 530 housing units of the Cité des cinquantenaires, in the economic capital.
