On January 12, 2017, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) issued a communique setting out the prize structure for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon as part of their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Gabon from January 14 until February 5.
Thus, the Lions will benefit from an attendance bonus of 500,000 FCFA. The qualification is set at 15 million. In case of ¼ finals, each player will have received CFAF 27.5 million. By qualifying for the semi-final, each footballer will receive cumulatively 30.5 million.
If the Indomitable Lions reach the final, each of them will collect cumulatively 35.5 million. And if Cameroon wins the final, each player will receive cumulatively 40.5 million FCFA.
Players and leaders have agreed that bonuses are no longer per game, but per goal. As of January 12, 2017, each of the Lions received the attendance and qualification bonus, for a total amount of FCFA 15.5 million. Recall that the Cameroon team scored a draw (1-1) in their first match in Libreville against the Burkina Faso selection. The next Lions outing is scheduled for January 18 against Guinea Bissau.
