Cameroon – Public management: Cameroon seeks CFAF 53 billion to finance its National Action Plan for Youth Employment

Written by Deckson N.

The Cameroonian Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training has just organized in Yaounde, the capital of the country, a round table of investors, in order to seek additional funding to supplement the envelope necessary for the implementation of the National Action Plan for Youth Employment (2016-2020), it is officially reported.

According to Minister Zacharie Perevet, “CFAF 82 billion can be mobilized by the government through the budgets of the ministerial departments with a total budget of 135 billion CFA francs, Initiatives to create and promote youth employment. That means that there is a gap of 53 billion CFA francs to mobilize “.

As a reminder, in order to combat unemployment among young people, the Cameroonian government is constantly multiplying initiatives to promote self-employment in favor of youth. These initiatives, however, lack coordination, as they are scattered in several ministerial departments (Youth, Employment, Agriculture, Fisheries, etc.), irrespective of the existence of the National Employment Fund (NEF).
