The defense and security forces that have intervened found it hard to contain protesters who break and burn. Clashes between men in uniform and slingers went on for hours and the tension was extreme.
A source in service at the regional hospital in Bamenda told us that five victims and about twenty wounded were registered there between 11 am and 5:30 pm on Thursday, December 8, 2016. Of the five victims, at least Three were shot dead, according to our source.
The official record of these bloody clashes is not yet published by the authorities. Given this renewed violence, the CPDM’s brides decided to cancel the meeting, which is causing the escalation of tension in the capital of the Northwest Region. The meeting of the CPDM militants was coordinated by Philemon Yang, Prime Minister, Head of Government and Jean Nkuété, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Fiery Flame Party who wanted through his meeting to invite those who militate for the Anglophone causes, to abandon the violence.
Mood swings and strikes by Anglophone teachers and lawyers have paralyzed the activities in the city of Bamenda for several weeks, despite the government’s proposals to end the crisis.
