The President of the Republic Paul Biya received in audience, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Yaounde, General Thomas D. Waldhauser, commander of the center of US military operations in Africa, with Michael Hoza, Ambassador of the United States in Cameroon.
Speaking to the press after their meeting, the two guests of the Unity Palace declared respectively having a dense and fruitful exchange with the head of state on cooperation between Cameroon and the United States, particularly in the areas of the fight against terrorism and the promotion of peace. They said the United States pledged to continue the training offer to the Cameroonian defense forces and equip the army with military equipment. A salutary and significant contribution in the fight against the Islamist group Boko Haram.
Register from the perspective of this cooperation, is the security in Central African Republic around Lake Chad and the fight against maritime insecurity whose harmful impact on economic activity in the region is well established.
