The pastor was arrested and his church closed by the authorities.
According to information released by national radio, the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Mouloundou, Ekanga Mba, died last Wednesday in full prayer session in a local church.
Ekanga Mba who was until then the first deputy mayor, died in an evangelical church whose pastor is a Congolese. According to the reporter of CRTV in the Eastern Region, Ekanga Mba was ill for several months and interned in a hospital room where he was being taking care of. Since his health did not improve in the hospital, his family took him to church for prayers of deliverance. It was during prayers that Ekanga Mba passed away.
After his death, the Yokadouma authorities took the decision to close this church which is a local branch of the Evangelical Church of Cameroon. The pastor was arrested and taken to Yokadouma to be interrogated. The case of Ekanga Mba is not isolated. On February 9, 2011, a church member aged 23 was killed during a deliverance session in a church in the Mfandena-Omnisport neighborhood in Yaounde.
