Eneo Cameroon controlled by the British investment fund Actis, informs that it has started the three-year program of rehabilitation of the Songloulou power plant (388 MW) in early October 2016 and that it shall be completed in November 4, 2017.
“The three-year program is primarily intended to secure the work of Songloulou, given the damage noted on its engineering, it was urgent to take action to eliminate the risk of collapse of the structure. Certainly there are the passage of impacts operationally, particularly in terms of maneuvers on valves and cofferdams, but we must say that in terms of service quality, its impact will be very visible, “says the Branch manager in charge of technical activities, Eugene Ngueha.
He added that, as part of the amendment number 2 of the Concession Agreement signed in August 2015, Eneo pledged to secure the hydroelectric dam of Songloulou for a cost of 11 billion CFA francs. In addition, notes Eugene Ngueha, the company performs additional work amounting to 4.7 billion FCFA to reliable operation of this item.
“This work aims to give new life to the center of Songloulou today aged 35, so that it can still be used for 50 years. The works range from the establishment of a testing system for the repair and treatment of cracks through the rehabilitation of basketry and cofferdam systems, etc. “Says the official.
