At the end of September 2016, the number of service subscribers to MTN Mobile Money in Cameroon has reached 2.7 million, up 13.2% compared to the second trimester of 2016, we learn from interim results just released by the multinational of South African telecoms.
In absolute terms, this statistic reveals that 300,000 new customers joined the service in Cameroon, since they were only 2.4 million recorded in June 2016. The South African telecom firm gives as rational to this performance its improvement in distribution of the Mobile Money Service in the country.
In addition, the period under review, the revenue generated by the new data have increased by 28.3% and now represent 19% of total revenues of MTN Cameroon, against 18.8% at end-June and 18 5% in the first quarter of 2016.
Regarding the customer base of the operator, we learn officially, it fell from 1.3% in September-end to 9.5 million subscribers.
