The announcement was made by the Minister of Transport during the inaugural flight of the national airline in the Western Region.

The CAMAIR-CO stimulus plan is working. Mired in turbulence since its first flight in March 2011, the national airline introduced on October 14, 2016, the first axis of the new management to make it viable. CAMAIR-CO indeed proceeded on Thursday the inauguration of its domestic flights.

The two Chinese MA60 aircraft from the company were enlisted to transport the passengers of the inaugural flight from Yaounde to the western region and the Bafoussam-Bamougoum Airport. That was the opportunity for the Minister of Transport to take stock of the recovery plan of CAMAIR-CO approved three months ago by the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic has decided to entrust the mission to Boeing to develop a recovery plan to allow the national airline to ensure its recovery and development. This plan provides for the gradual injection by the State of 60 billion FCFA to finance the company’s investment plan, “recalled Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o.

The MINTRANSPORT then said “am pleased to announce that the President of the Republic has already injected 30 billion FCFA,” he added. Good news for CAMAIR-CO whose recovery plan provides the serving of nine national destinations. In this regard, Mebe Ngo’o said that after Bafoussam, “will follow, Bamenda, Bertoua, Koutaba, Kribi, depending on the work to be performed by the Civil Aviation Authority society“.

The implementation of the recovery plan is presented by the government as the solution to remove CAMAIR-CO from the abyss. Besides domestic flights, the airline will serve, under the plan, 5 intercontinental destinations and 13 regional. It will also acquire 9 new aircraft.
