The Minister of Public Health condemns the publication on social networks images of the bedridden former footballer.
The family of Rigobert Song and the authorities did everything to try to preserve his privacy. But in vain, since the images circulated on the internet.
A photo of Song bedridden went viral on social media. Topless, somehow thin, the former captain of the Indomitable Lions had probes hooked on him. While some took a curious pleasure in disseminating this image, it however shocked many people who saw in it a violation of the privacy of the patient.
Among those shocked is the Minister of Public Health. André Mama Fouda called on the authors of those pictures to remove them. “Those who have posted pictures on social networks have to withdraw them,” asked the MINSANTE, inviting them to “respect human dignity”. It was during the reaction he gave to the press at the time of the release of Song from the YEC to the Nsimalen airport.
According to Mama Fouda, these images “do not give honor to our country.” So he ended his talk with a warning. “Let them be careful,” concluded the Minister. Rigobert Song regained his consciousness. He was evacuated by air ambulance to the Pitié Salpêtrière hospital in Paris, where he will continue treatment.
