For her first act in the crisis of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) for three years, the Senegalese Fatma Samoura, new Secretary General of FIFA, took a drastic decision.
She sent on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 a correspondence to Abdouraman Babba Hamadou, president of Etoile Filante de Garoua to tell him that “FIFA’s policy is to communicate only through its member associations” and that it could not intervene in a case that “seems to present an exclusively internal nature.” Abdouraman was so unsuccessful in his request sent a week earlier to FIFA to request the suspension of the participation of the national team of Cameroon in the qualifiers for the World Cup Russia 2018 because of the illegitimacy of the president in place.
Less than 24 hours after the FIFA response, Baba Hamadou Abdourman published his response on his Facebook page.
“To those who want to know, I want to say that, honestly, the answer from FIFA to my correspondence of September 12, 2016 is perfect for me. The next few days we will clarify us more. To all those who rejoice, I would say they did not understand at all, and their current state of mind reflects their extreme fragility and depth of their fear of the immediate future … “wrote the main opponent to the leaders of the Cameroon Football Federation.
His last hope rests on the shoulders of the Court of Arbitration for Sport which will soon give its verdict.
On the basis of a court decision that invalidated the election of Tombi A Roko as head of FECAFOOT, Abdouraman had seized the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland to compel Tombi to leave the Federation’s premises at the Tsinga neighborhood in Yaounde.
